As you know the PS3 is a total entertainment system which not only plays games but can also play videos, music and show photoes.
Things you will need:
A USB Flash drive
A video or a song...
There are two
methods in this.
First Method:
1. You have to download guiformat.exe which a can be downloaded here:
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
2. Format your External HD or your Flash drive to FAT32 if its not using guiformat.
3. After it is formatted, make four folders on the root of the hard disk or pen drive:
Game, Video, Music and Photo
4. Place videos in the Video folder, music in Music folder, photoes in the Photo folder etc..
5. That's it. Just plug the USB or external HD in to your PS3 and the files will be there!!

Your USB device must be FAT32 formatted!!
1. You can also play files from your USB without making any folders!
2. Just copy your song or video in the root of your USB or hard drive.
3. Plug it in your PS3.
4. If you have a video file on your USB, then go to Video on your PS3 and select your device.
5. You will see that there will not be any files.
6. Go back and press Triangle. 7. You will see a menu on the right side.
8. Just select 'Display All'.
9. All the files and folders on your USB will be shown.
10. Select your video and Enjoy!!
